Palace on an Island - Jagamandir

There are palaces then there are palaces inside forts which are atop a hill. Here’s a rare combination of a city with a lake with an island that has a breathtaking palace built on that island. Welcome to the Jagmandir Palace in the royal city of Udaipur in India.

As seen in the picture above, a boat ride is taken to reach the island palace.

At the entrance is a gate and on both sides are two majestic elephant statues made in marble.

f you look above at the ceiling when standing at the gate, the inside face is decorated with a beautiful design.

Inside the palace is the courtyard that is both spacious and decorated with fountains and sprawling lawns. Also present are plenty of seating places like benches made of iron or concrete.

Looking over the peaceful lake is another set of elephant statues that appear like standing on water.

There is also a lovely restaurant which offers buffet lunch in the afternoon though it is highly over-priced.

Finally, here’s a panoramic view of the Jagmandir Palace.

This is only one of the attractions in the city of Udaipur in Rajasthan. The other places that are highly recommended are City Palace, Vintage Car Museum, Bagore Ki Haveli, Saheliyon Ki Bari, Fateh Sagar Lake, Moti Magri, and the Jagadish Temple.

Make sure to spare 3-4 days to enjoy Udaipur to the fullest.

Until then… Happy guiding :)
